Discover Greece through the ages on this 7-day journey to include ancients sights in Athens, Mycenae, Olympia, Nafpaktos, Delphi, Meteora, and Thermopylae.
Arrive at the airport in Athens. Private transfer to hotel. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Half Day tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum.
This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Prime Minister’s residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, Constitution Square (Syntagma).
On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the Parthenon. The tour continues with the new Acropolis museum.
Leave by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal (short stop). Drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nauplion (short photo stop), drive on to Mycenae and visit the archaeological site and the Tomb of Agamemnon.
Then depart for Olympia through Central Peloponnese and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Dinner & overnight in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games.
In the morning, visit the archaeological site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum of Olympia. Then drive on through the plains of Eliad and Achaia until the magnificent bridge which is crossing the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea, we arrive in Delphi. Dinner & overnight.
Tour Delphi, the center of the Ancient World – the “Omphalos” (Navel of Earth) – whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios.
Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum of Delphi containing such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias.
Journey on to Kalambaka, a small town located at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks. Dinner & overnight in Kalambaka.
Visit the fascinating monasteries of Meteora, which are included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The monasteries are built on top of the spectacular rock formations of Meteora and seem to be suspended in mid-air. The exquisite specimens of Byzantine art together with the striking scenery create a memorable experience to the visitors of Meteora from all around the world.
Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop to see across the road the Leonida’s Monument). Arrival in Athens early in the evening.
After breakfast, bid farewell to Athens as you depart for the airport and your onward or homeward bound flight.
